I've always used the Quicksilver 2 stroke synthetic blend in my Mercury with no prob. I purchase it at Walmart for 27$ for 1 gl. Today I see they have Quicksilver premium plus synthetic blend for 20$. Whats the difference other than price and would be okay to use in a 06' Mercury Optimax 225?

TCW-3 is all that matters. When it comes down to it all 2 stokes are the same.

Merc says to run DFI in my PRO XS 250 That is true..... I believe back in Oct. of 2010 Mercury started recommending DFI oil in all of the PRO XS motors. However the XS motors that come from Mercury racing still recommend the Premium plus.

SO!! What do you think I should use ? I'm not on to racing.. to old for that. From what I read the DFI oil has more additives to protect against carbon build up in these newer engines, that most times have to burn corn oil (ethanol). I believe the Premium plus is fine--- as it was what they recommended even for your motor until late 2010. However as much as these motors cost to replace or work on-----I will run what they recommend. JMO PS just so where on the same page.. The PRO XS and the XS motors like my 300XS are not the same. The 300XS comes from Mercury racing division.. The Pro XS does not.

They are selling at that price becaus that is what Academy sells it for, Wal Mart has always been higher on 2 cycle oil of any kind.

Ok I check the labels on both products the only difference is one is 2 stroke and one is 2 cycle. So which am I suppose to run in a 06' Mercury Optimax 225?
