You know those materials that you bought for that fly that you never got around to tying?

Well, I've been intending to try tying this style of fly for years and never sat down and did it. I've had the pheasant skin for over a year and this was the first time to finally use it too. (Who was it that said we would save money tying our own?)

Anyway, these were surprisingly fast and easy to tie. I'll be tying some more.

Size 10 hook
Yellow 140 d. thread
Silver wire rib
Hair's ear colored dubbing for the thorax
Ringneck pheasant for the wing

What is it called?

Trout fly?

I'm sure it has a name, but I don't know what it is supposed to be.

The pattern is basically a Partridge and Orange, but tied in yellow with pheasant instead of usual materials. (I changed birds because I don't have a partridge skin. smile )

I just bought a pheasant skin and have been tying briminators. Everything I read shows this pattern as one of the go to bluegill flies as well. Do you have a link to a similar tie?

I'm sorry, but I don't have a link. I pulled it out a book that I have.
