Don't know if this has been posted yet, but I have been told bye a reliable source that Lowrance is being bought out.
I don't know by who or when, but supposedly this is in the works and is already a done deal, they are just working through the legal processes before announcing it. Don't know what it means for those of us who have Lowrance products either. Not sure if future products will be compatible, etc. Anyone have any other information on this or know more than I do?

How come everytime a company gets bought people think it's going away. That's not how it works, if it is being bought it is because somebody sees value in it. Otherwise you are paying for nothing just to shut it down? Makes no sense.

Never said it was going away. I'm just looking to see if someone knows more information about who bought them out and what the impact will be if any. That said, change is dependent on who the buyer is...

If it's true, my guess would be Raymarine.

It wouldn't be a buyout of Lowrance. It would have to be an acquisition of Navico who is owned by Altor Equity Partners. They have been owned by this PEF since 2006. It does appear it's about time to sell. Raymarine's parent company is PLENTY strong to purchase Navico.

Either way, nothing will be effected for current Lowrance product owners. They'd probably merge the two brands and we, as fishermen, would do nothing but benefit from the advanced technology stemming from their merger.
