I recently added an 859 on the bow and wanted to be able to share waypoints. When I bought the unit I bought the required cable and adapter. Did all the installation myself. Very first time out when I switched on the bow unit it caused the console unit to shut down. I noticed the voltage was lower than normal on the 898 so I decided to run a dedicated wire to both units. I used 14 for the power and 12 for the ground and fused both units with wafer type waterproof fuse holders. Crimpable heat shrink butt connectors on everything. I replaced the group 27 battery with a new one at the same time and replaced the on board charger with a minn kota mk 210. I figured this was fool proof. Go to the lake and it is still doing the same thing. I decided to check the fuse holders to see if I missed a crimp or if there was a bad connection. I lost power to both units. Back to the shop.
I checked voltage at 898 ,2.4 amps. Checked it at the 859 ,12.4 Cut the fuse holder off the 898 and read 12.4 volts at the snipped wire. Had continuity at the fuse holder with no fuse in it. So I replaced the fuse holder with another. Voltage checked out everywhere as it should have with a meter. I'm thinking it is fixed. Nope. Turn the 898 on then turn the 859 on and after a few minutes the 898 powers off an comes back on continually. Decided to tweak the prongs in the power cord on the 898. That made no difference either. Finally I decided to take the ethernet connection lose from the 898. Boom. They both stay on. Plug it back in and within 2 minutes the 898 powers off and on.
I checked the physical connections on the ethernet/adapter cables and everything seemed ok.
Anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

Any chance it would be defective from the factory? My bluewave has tubing from the transom to the console and from the console to the bow. Surprisingly it pulled very easy with a fish tape. I expected a fight but it slipped right through without a hitch. No sharp bends in the tubing. Not sure what they use in their hulls but it reminds me of long sweep pvc 90s used for electrical conduit. The cable and adapter were expensive.
