I would use a santee cooper rig. If you're not familiar with it, just google it. I modify it by using a sinker slider so I can swap out sinkers easily.

What are the people doing who bank fish with balloons do they use a weight with that? Generally speaking how does that work?

I use a combination of santee cooper rigs and 3 way rigs. Some days one will do better than others. I agree with parttime on my santee rigs I use sinker sliders in order to change out weights.

Been using 3-ways the last year or so with good results. This seems to fly farther than a Santee rig when casting,to me anyway. After losing a big one last month I bulked it up a little.
80# braid main line
12 inch 80# mono leader
10/0 circle hook
2/0 140# 3-way
24 inch 20# weight leader w/big snap swivel
6oz.bank weight

I am not near as good as you guys, but on the ponds around Denton County I use a Santee with a 1 oz. egg slip weight and a number 6 or 4 treble hook.
