Looks like you were taking a picture into the water. Looks like a school of baitfish in lower right corner, a tree in the middle????

Sticks and stones. If you put on your polarized glasses, you might see something to the middle left. Maybe a turtle.

To me it looks like a photo taken from above the water, with a twig in the middle of the frame, and a crappie to the left that is laying away from the twig at an angle.

minnow killer was on track and mister palmer put the ray bans on for sure  that is a small black crappie on top of a rock in shallow water good job yawl ... and the kid picking his nose ..... was actually just my reflection as well K A B O O M

It looks to me like it might be a mohawk crappie. Did you end up catching this fish? it was a black crappie Lane ...I don't think it was a Mohawk though it was a released fish that wasnt in any hurry to leave it just sat there for quite a while on top of the rock hovering around most crappie I release bolt off unless they are stressed bad this guy was fresh and just not worried ...

Gotch ya. I assumed black crappie, just looked like it had a stripe running down it's back. Pretty neat photo!
