I see a lot of guys that have one of this, two of that etc. when it comes to their fishing gear and tackle. My boat is basically an Abu Garcia, Falcon, and Zoom billboard.

Anyone else?

Although I do have favorites for certain things. I do like to try new things and actions.

I think all the brands and offerings can be a distraction, I pick brands for my own sanity, familiarity, and organization.

Ranger, Dobyns, Shimano, Seaqur, Trokar, and Megabass. Plastics are one of few things I mix up.

That's my new years resolution to my wife every year. She goes to the quilting store all of the time. Im pretty sure she spends more in quilting stuff than I do in tackle. Gotta say her quilts are awesome though. She made me one that has all of my favorite bands on it.

Rods and reels, I feel like Shimano and Dobyns are the best values for the most part, so that's most of what I have (not because I'm a brand loyalist). I have a few non-Dobyns rods and only one non-Shimano reel.

As for baits, it's a complete crapshoot. I buy a little bit of everything. I really like LFT soft plastics, but that's about my only bias. I still buy zoom, berkley, etc. too.

I have different brands of rods, but try to stay with the same type of reels for the most part. Some are left handed models so I don't have to change hands.

Every single one of my rods and reels are Quantum. Not because they are made in China but because they are a good price point, they last forever with routine maintenance, and I can strip down any one of my 12 reels blindfolded. As far as baits, I've really gotten narrowed down over the years on what catches the fish and what catches the fisherman. Once you realize which is which, you don't have to carry a full boat full of tackle. Line? Sunline of course!

I only use BPS Pro qualifiers paired on Carbonlite rods. I don't switch baits until they stop working. I've literally fished one bait for the last 2 1/2 months. Black/blue picasso spider jig. Before that was junebug brush hogs for probably 3 or 4 months.

I've been a dobyns and Abu guy for years and I have recently switched to kistler and lews. Time will tell if it was worth it. Dobyns makes an awesome rod but Abu's quality is questionable at best.as far as bait companies I don't care as long as they catch fish.

Custom Angle Rods and Shimano. If you haven't tried a Custom Angle rod you really should. Price point is excellent especially for a handmade rod. If nothing else try a Carolina special or a glass crankbait rod. Most sensitive rods I have ever used.
