Launched at State Park and had a pretty good day catching sandbass. Looks like they are starting to feed up for the winter as most of them were real fat. Launching and getting out to the deeper water has become difficult to say the least. One foot of water in some places and about two feet just out from the ramp. Stirred up a lot of sand and mud even with the motor up as far as I could put it and still pump water. Will have to use the electric trolling motor next time Im afraid and still the bottom of the boat may stick in the mud. There were no empty trailers when we got there and a pontoon boat came up as we were launching. Two empty trailers in lot when we left. Looks like a lot of fishermen have called it quits until we get some good rain. Just wondering where and how the guides like Matt and Joe are launching who have larger boats than mine. Any comments or info to add? Sure hope we get some good rain today!

We stayed at Anchor Inn Monday and Tuesday for some bank fishing for catfish and saw boats coming and going from the boat ramp. Not sure how deep it is, but looks like some are getting out there.

I think lots of the local lakes are the same way - guys that only get out a time or two a month don't want to risk damage to their boat. For guides/fishermen that get out there almost every day, they have the incentive and knowledge to safely launch and navigate.
Glad you had a good trip! Be careful out there.

I was sure wishing that the Tawakoni area got more rain yesterday. Watching TV last night sure looked like more rain down that way. I live in Richardson and we only got about a quarter of an inch. Looks like it will be a while before any more rain. Pray for rain!!!!!!!!!!!

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Just updating y'all...
State park is all but closed. I saw 2 boats hung up today...even near the PVC poles they just put out. One was a good sized bass boat, other was pontoon.
Holiday is getting by....by maybe 2". Should be impossible to launch in the nxt 7-10 days.
Anchor and 751 are still open. Anchor's water is Very shallow tho when u get off the trailer.

This is right on what the Game Warden told me last week on the St Park, he said he doubted if it would make it through October. I will add that we did try the new Sun Point ramp and it's ok but going out you will probably get stuck, we almost did 2 weeks ago, I would not try it again now no way.

I'm done with Holiday until the water comes back up. Was coming back in Sat evening with the motor trimmed up very high (prop barely in the water), and had to cut it a little wide to avoid bank fishermen, and caught a freaking pipe square on the lower unit. I was only idling, but it stopped my boat completely and I had to trim the motor all the way out of the water to get over it. Water at the ramp is almost too shallow as well. Dragging the skeg if I try to power load. And all this is using an 18' mod-v flatbottom.
Rain in the forecast this weekend though. It's sad how we've gone from hoping for rain to fill the lake back up, to hoping for enough rain to keep the ramps usable.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
