oldeputy, from what I remember from trout fishing back in western Canada, its natural curiosity. Wife and I have set out on lakes on Vancouver Island, and have seen smallmouth and even trout do the same thing under fat snowflakes. Often wondered if it was the snow dropping on the water, or the usually sharp drop in barometric pressure. They don't see this often, and whether it is a hard blow causing a flurry of small leaves from a tree, or snowflakes, the trigger instinct comes into play. Not knowing what it is, it arouses the feeding frenzy thing, I suspect. Just a theory, but interesting behavior. Maybe someone should design a "snowflake" bait?

Snowed last night and is still snowing in Mesquite. Probably got 3 inches on the hood of my truck. Slush on the streets, at the most. Main streets are just wet.

If we got on a snowmobile and headed for the coast...how close would we get? Lots of snow here in Austin - any further south?

"Creek" Fisherpersons. With temps right @ freezing tonight may be a good idea to put drain plugs in now.Hot coffee at the ramp to unplug a frozen drainout is no fun.
Also probably wouldn't hurt to crack open a bit all compartments.
Be safe,happy hunting tomorrow
