I am looking for new fishing holes in the houston area. Does the lake in The Woodlands allow small boats? I have a bass buster type boat that I would like to find more places to use at. I am on the west side of town and have covered the Katy and Sugarland areas for fishing holes. There are only a few that would allow the boat.

Thanks,

Jason

Several years ago when I lived down there they allowed boats on that lake. It was an idle only lake so your bass buster should be fine.

I have been there w/ a kayak. All the boats I see there run trolling motor only.

Thanks,

Any idea on the closest place I can get my truck to the water and be able to launch the boat?

Anybody pulling any decent bass out of there?

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

I lived in that area for a while. Try the lake at Huntsville State Park. Just take the park exit and cross under the interstate. They have a small boat ramp and allow gas motors at idle speed only. There are some nice bass in there. It cost's $3.00 per day per person to enter the park.

Good Luck!

Right here

2505 Lake Woodlands Dr.

They have a little ramp with docks.

Go to the south end and you'll see a gazebo and this dragon sculpture. Crappie are good there and catfish too.

Go to the far, far north end and veer left - and there is a bridge area with some nice little bass and a couple of creek channels. The cove is protected from the wind. Watch the little trees on the banks, snakes like to sleep in them and the banks are high, so you are right about level with them.

Also this place is fun.

7725 Alden Bridge Dr.

You have to park in the little lot and get your boat about 200 yards down the path. I see a guy about every Sunday morning just unhitch his little bass buster trailer and walk it right down the path.

Good bass and crappie.

Thanks, I will give it a shot in the morning. I had thought about Huntsville but was looking for something a little closer. I will try woodlands tomorrow and huntsville later on.

Thanks,

Jason
