My father taught me at a VERY young age that miles are not worth worrying about and that a road trip is what life is all about for a boy and his friends. Now, as a man closer to the end than the beginning of his life, I'm blessed to be able to take a trip every couple years with my best friend and chase good fish. We are mainly bass fisherman, but also do a lot of Northern Pike, Smallmouth, snook, and even some tarpon fishing. We just got back from another Canada Trip and are already talking about where we should go in 2015. If you could go anywhere on this continent (and maybe even beyond - if reasonable).............where would you go, what would you chase? What lists should we add to our "bucket list" of awesome fishing trips to do before we die??? We've been to Caddo, Fork, Falcon, and several lakes in Canada for Pike. We've hit Fort Peck in Montana, Lake Casitas in CA, several in MN and are doing Guntersville soon. We've talked about sailfish in Costa Rica, but I'm not too excited about leaving the continent. Heck.....not even excited about Mexico.......but it's on the bucket list too..........just don't know where we'd choose, but also looking for ideas there too. What would YOU do??

HA!! OK, lemme splain! I'm talking bout stuff I can catch on a rod and reel and that will be sporting and a great fight. We don't keep any fish, so the fight and the numbers and size is everything. Although.........In saying that, I've caught gators on a rod and reel in Florida and I've caught Sharks in Florida too. Small ones though.......like 30 pounders. FUN though!!

Where are the best snook waters?
Where is the best Mexico lake nowadays where I won't die?
Anyone have a MUST fish smallmouth lake on your bucket list?
Any hidden largemouth jewels out there that I should look at? I know they all get cyclical.......where would you like to go in the next 5 years?
Anyone know Okachobie?? Kissimee chain? Too hard to figure out or a knock em dead destination?

I would try and go to every major league ballpark and the closest strip club to each, in one year

If not that I would go to Mexico (large mouth), Somewhere up North (small mouth) and Brazil (peacock)

We did a redfish/snook combo trip about 6 years ago so I got a taste...........but I think I enjoyed the snook more......we just didn't catch a ton of them........like 10 each and mostly 2 pounders...........although my buddy caught a giant.......like 13 pounds! Other than that, all pretty small, out of fort myers, fl. My wife and I got into some nice 15 pound reds a few years ago down there, but only caught like 4 of them. Is Venice really pretty reliable to get into them good? Like, 20-30 per day or no? Reds look pretty fun. I just flipped scaled sardines or something like that out at em. Kinda like catfishing. But they sure fought good

Smallmouth anywhere there is the chance at 50+ a day and legitimate 5 pounders.

Growing up just off Sabine lake AND fishing Calcasieu in La. I love the brute fight of a redfish and I've caught a lot of them but smallies are king !

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I am talking using bass gear for em when they're shallow. I've never been so I don't have much info for you. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on this site that can give you more info, but from what I understand, Venice is the place to have non-stop redfish action, and the big bulls get real active about this time of year. I've read many reports of 100 fish days, also seen many TV shows filmed there, where they absolutely whack em. Of course it's still fishing so nothing is guaranteed..

Guerrero for the nestalgia

Brazil for peacocks.

For sail fish go to manzanilla Mexico. The sail fish capital of the world according to them.

Been to Venice and caught reds until I was exhausted. Red fish capital of the world! I rather be in Canada catching Smallies. Go every year and looking for a new place to go there or in Maine next year.

I'm for the redfish in Louisiana. I have caught redfish down there but not the really big 25+ ones. That has to be fun.

I've been lucky enough to fish all over and I would want to go back up north in the summers. Smallies up north are awesome. The guys in Detroit area say usually the 3rd week in May is great time for bedding smallies. I would also love to get up to Minnesota in the summer, haven't been there yet! There is SO much water up there. I bet you can't go wrong.

I've done ALOT of Canada smallie and pike trips and they have always been my favorite. But, man, all this smallie talk has me excited about chasing the 4-7 pounders and they don't have them in Canada. If you guys could plan a trip in the U.S. for trophy smallmouths and numbers that don't take an electronics expert to find them...........where would you go?? Wisconsin?? Michigan? New York? Bama? Tennessee??
