Any of y'all use underwater cameras to check brush piles for fish size and specie. I check them with rod and reel just thought it would be neat to take a look underwater. Does anyone have experience with the aqua view mini? I know water clarity plays roll but with good visibility think it would be cool.

You'll rarely find water clear enough to see. Have had a couple of friends that tried them and had less than stellar results.

Thought lakes like Texoma and Amistad water clarity would be good enough in certain areas.

Amistad has some pretty clear water, not sure if it is extremely clear but perhaps better than most other lakes

I have the original one. Little clumsy doing yourself, and running TM, but it's possible.
As far as visibility goes, some lakes you can see further. BUT if you know where your pile is, you can drop it down and see what's lurking around. Bream, bass ect.
I used mine up to 28' on Rayburn. One spot I never could understand why it held fish....but I explored it with camera. Bream everywhere....not much else besides a few bass cruising around.
I always thought I would use it more than I actually did. Just have a tough time remembering to grab it....it's not your normal gear you grab.
One thing you can do is set it on a bed and back off it and watch the fish through the camera. Cool trick.
Of course I did buy mine Pre-Side Imaging. Back when you wondered what the heck you were feeling down there.

Bassbucknbeer really appreciate the videos. Do you know if you can wirelessly connect gopro to your iPad so you can watch live video while recording? If not seems it would be tiresome to have to go back home to see what you recorded. Again really appreciate everyone's responses.

Think you can but once your camera goes underwater u lose your wi-fi capability.

As soon as I bring the camera back up, I review it on my phone.

I have a buddy that used one over at Two-Mile bridge on Tawakoni to see Crappie around the pillars.

I use them a lot up north in the winter.. Sometimes you'd never know that there was a fish by you if you didn't have one on Lake Oahe. I have an aqua-vu somewhere I need to dig up although it's outdated. I used to clean stripers on Texoma and have clients whacking catfish hanging bait by my underwater camera in the process... I think the tips paid for it pretty quickly in my short time doing it in college.

My dad has one of the underwater cameras laying around somewhere in garage. Only used it once. Need to try it out on Texoma. Has an led light and everything on it the go pro idea is cool to never though about using my hero 3+ for that
