hit the water a bit after 7 ...left right before 11 ......the sand bass were rather active until about 8 am ....the crappie seemed to be in a 2 hour bite window ....they were on docks I have not done well on in the past ...and they were NOT under the docks I have done well on in the past ....the wind blew rather strong about 10 am and the bite stopped .....we did have us some fun with them fish for a couple of hours though ....today the presentation was completely different than Friday ....they wanted a heavier jig and they wanted it dancing vertically ...go figure and the fish that took it thumped it like they meant it ...very few slack line bites today ...the most fish held in about 6 to 10 foot of water ....and most of the fish were about a foot of the bottom ...
not only did they want a different presentation ...the bait of the day was totally different as well
these darn crappie sure are a challenge to figure out at times ....pink head 1/16 with a silver flash small fry was in the edible category today
no really huge fish were taken ....some did fall into the "slab" category though

Do you think they went after the silver cause it more resembles shad in color? I relate a lot of my bass fishing to crappie and this time of year when they start feeding up for the winter I throw most anything that looks like bait fish. I know they can sure be more particular what they eat than a ditch pickle.

wish I knew for sure what drives them some days myself ,
last Friday they wanted a super bright clear chart with lots of sparkle ...
I think most likely the sparkle has a lot to do with it ....
I am of the opinion you have to get past a few obstacles to ketch a crappie
1 they have to see the bait
2 they have to think its real food
3 they have to like its odor ....
of course some of these may go away if its a fast presentation day
or they are in that super aggressive mode
