It's a fun event to help get these guys on the water, very laid back type deal. There will be guys in 16' tin boats all the way up to bass elites fishing side by side. All you have to do is register online, entry is free. Once you register Cliff will email you a roster with your randomly selected soldier/retiree's contact info, rules for the tournament, your flight number and weigh in time. You can either get together and pre fish or just meet on the 10/11th. On the 10th you check in at a free BBQ dinner with raffles, seminars etc at the Killen civic center. You also usually get a bag of loot that can double as weigh bag.

Saturday morning boats will meet up at Blora park on Belton lake you can either launch there or drive in on the water. Once safe light hits they will start calling out flight numbers and away you go to enjoy the day. If you get to catchin you come back to Blora at weigh int ime and bring your fish to the weigh in tent.

My boater was curious about which ramp is best to launch from. What do you all think?

Airforce fishing you PM box is full. I am a SMSgt and took my boat to it a couple of years ago with another guy from Dyess and his boat. I highly recommend spending the day with an Army Cat its a good time. The night before they have a dinner that is great and you get to meet the person you are fishing with. Then you just meet up with them at the ramp, launch and wait for your flight to leave. When its your flight time you drive by the dock for a livewell check. It is a must do. If I did not just PCS to WPAFB I would be there, I was disappoint that I missed it last year due to a deployment.

As others have testified, this event is all about having a great time, meeting other fishermen and gals and a chance to win a boat. This event rates as high as any annual event. You might be paired with someone with very little experience where you have the opportunity to teach someone the basics to being paired with someone willing to teach you a few things.either way, Belton Lake is one of those lakes that will definitely test your skills.

Come to the banquet Friday Night at the Killeen Civic Center, meet your partner, discuss a strategy and eat some great BBQ. THEN, SATURDAY Oct. 11 you are in for a heck of a good time as Breakfast tacos are provided, the water is wait and the fish are...well they're out there!

If you can get involved in this event you won't be sorry.

I have heard nothing but great things coming from this.

Just had my knee replaced or I would be out there for sure.

Thanks for what you guys do.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

there are several, but the best ramp would be Temple Lake Park. BLORA WILL BE A ZOO! There are other small ramps in the area, but have limited parking and the locals will take advantage of those quick. Frank's Marina just on the south corner of the dam will be filled so forget it. If you are not familiar with the area, Temple Lake Park is your best option as many others will be launching there and a flotilla of boaters will guide you to the starting area at the opposite end of the main lake.

There are several hotels which are offering special rates for this tournament. Go to www.fishingforfreedom.org and click the lodging information tab and it will have the hotels offering the discount on rooms.
