Fished Texoma last week and for the first time in my life we drove up to the Train Bridge going across the lake. We motored through and came back to fish under the bridge, just to get some shade on a hot day. What we saw floored us! Had we driven through the next pillars over, bad things would have happened. There is a huge span of concrete between the pillars that is about 8 to 10 inches under the water. As we investigated, we found some old, mostly unreadable signs on the pillars. To make things worse, the signs are only on the south side of the bridge. I wish that I had taken pictures of the bridge and the signs so that others will understand the danger lurking just below the surface. Will someone please post some pictures? There are many of these spans with the concrete just under water. It is deplorable that this bridge is not well marked. Someone might just lose their life there. This is a serious situation! I am asking for someone to help get this rectified.

I believe somewhere on the sixoldgeezer site there is a photo of the bridge under construction
when you look at the bridge every span that has a cross member visible also has a cross member hidden underwater also

We were there Sunday and thought the EXACT SAME THING. I totally agree someone needs to properly mark this area.
With the lake at this level wow it is seriously dangerous and about 6 inches under the water. But they are only on some of the spans. On others spans we went thru and mapped two more under the surface but going side to side not down the tracks like the ones you were talking about. I had been there before when the lake was up and mapped then on sonar but they were about 5 - 6 feet down not 5- 6 inches.
Pitiful signs even if they were brand new. Needs a BIG RED DANGER on bridge and marker buoys in water in my opinion.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

It's obvious plus it states "use Main span only" but we all run thru the ones w/o the supports. Save your effort we need buoy markers WAY worse.

I am making an effort and have spoken with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers for Lake Texoma Oklahoma. The ball has started rolling on this matter. I plan on posting as information comes in.

GoFishNow... Great meeting you at Bass Pro the other day. Thanks for the tips and action regarding the bridge. We'll definitely watch out for the crossmember spans. We'll be out in the BlueWave on Saturday a.m. (REEL KNOTTY sticker on the back) Below is a picture referencing the shallow crossmemember spans.

By the way, I am not positive, but I think the 287 bridge on Richland Chambers is like that also.

I contacted the Corps about all the RED & GREEN lights on the Roosevelt Bridge being out several years ago. Now that is serious, especially around July 4th with all the boats partying nearby watching the fireworks. Of course, they didn't care. Neither did our USCG. I finally got a hold of the highway department and they were going to pass it along to the district engineer. Finally results! Some of the lights were repaired a couple years later.

Update. I made my first call to the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers, Oklahoma on September 25th. After many follow up attempts since that point in time, today I called and spoke a second time with Joe Custer the manager. He said that he talked with the "Road Master" of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company and had a short conversation on what the problem is. Time passed. Joe is currently attempting to reach the Road Master to try and get some answers. We all know these things take time and it has. I will keep you posted. Just trying to keep a stranger safe out on the lake.
