Looking to try the striper action on Texhoma. Any suggestions on ramp and general area to try would be greatly appreciated. Never been on the water there.

First time to Texoma I would launch at Highport. Head North towards the islands but be very careful it can go from 60 to 5 fow in seconds. Follow the boat shows.

Thanks Steve. Does my Tx license cover only the south part of the lake? If so, are there markers on the water?

Your Texas license covers such a small part of the lake it's almost useless. Just get the $12 Texoma license.
Semper Fi This Veteran heavily medicated for your safety. Keep me fishing and all will be well.

I agree the Texas license only covers the Texas side of Texoma which is south of the red river that runs through Texoma. Not worth it just get a Texoma license available just about everywhere on the lake including the Mobile station as you turn left off of 289 to Highport rd. If you have a senior citizens Texas fresh water you do not need a Texoma license.

For a first time, I would recommend launching at Highport, big easy ramp. The common area to hit is the stump area by the islands just NE of highport, then follow the ridge line NE past the North Island. See this post for a nice map : highport map If you can get there before sunrise, top waters near the shoreline can be good, then switch to sassy shad swimbaits or choho minnow style, again thrown against the shallow shoreline. As the morning goes on, you may be able to slab them up along the river ridge line. -good luck

TexHoma lol
We launch out of Lighthouse. Not near as good of ramp as HighPort but not the crowds either.
Probably better off at Highport as you will be able to look for other fishing boats. I stay away from boat shows but when I first started fishing Texoma the boat shows helped a lot. On Texoma the size is overwhelming when you cannot find fish. Look for birds, top water action esp early or late and if you have to other boats fishing.
And most of all GOOD LUCK!
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
