2005 BassCat Puma 250 hpdi Would not change a thing other than i would like to be in it more often BassCat won the jd powers for customer satisfaction great boat in rough water, fast, lots of storage. I guess it could get better gas milage but probubly would if i would keep my foot out of it.

I have a Triton20X. I can only say finding place to hold the lights was challenging. Most guys put them in a rod box, but I started using the battery area.
2nd, I wish the rod lids were 6 inches longer.. but that is just my wish. lastly, the cost.. Dang new boats are too much now adays. The only problems I have had with my rig were Mercury problems, and then trailer lights. Lowrance GPS gave me some fits, but Lowrance fixed that quickly...
The boat is plenty fast, and has plenty of storage for co anglers as well. Fairly dry ride, but some folks complain about how Tritons will Chime at WOT>.. How ever, if the boat is set up right, which sadly takes some time, the walking does go a way or is minimized.

Good luck in your hunt though!!!
I would get another X series Triton anyday, but would also consider Champion or Legend, and another XPress for aluminum boats. Triton has a lifetime warranty, which to me is a big thing with any glass boat.

Wish I could say the same. My Nitro isn't paid for and I already have the bug for a bigger boat.

I have a 2004 Basscat FTD and the only thing that I do not like is it has too much storage space and I tend to bring too much tackle with me.

It is a very solid, stable boat.

The only thing I dont like about my 04 521VX is the stability while fishing. The boat is not as stable while walking around as my 99 519 DVS. I was to the new Z21 does not have this problem at all.

Outside of that I love the ride, storage, gages, switches, trailer, seats, live wells, ice chest holds ice all day and the performance is pretty good for a heavy Ranger.

I just wish I would have got another Optimax instead of the 250 HPDI. Im on my second power head and Im still not impressed.

My boat is a 2002 Skeeter SX200. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't find a buyer! I'm trying to sell it to step up to a ZX225. I've been talking to myself over on the "for sale" board for over a month now.

Here's a few: the SX200 sits up in the water pretty high so it catches wind; the glove box has "hidden" compartments in it so if you leave a pen or something small like that laying loose in it it will "disappear"; ice box is not insulated at all, and being flat on the floor it will fill with rain water; chine walks when it gets to 71 MPH.

OK, I'll play. I have a 2000 19' Champion with a Yamaha motor. I don't have any complaints about the boat or motor. But, the trailer wheels came with covers to hide the lug nuts. These covers were attached to the wheel with a hex head bolt. I guess they are supposed to make the wheels look pretty. All they ended up doing was trapping water and causing the lugnuts to rust. One day I was going to check the lugnuts and the bolt on one of those covers had seized up. I had to drill out the bolt to remove the cover. I was sure glad that I found it while on my driveway and not on the side of the road with a flat tire. Those covers have been off of the trailer for several years now.

OK, I've read all four pages of posts, all the while trying to think about what I DON'T like about my BassCat, and I still can't come up with anything. noidea

Plenty of storage, back-lit switches, good rough-water ride, excellent fit n' finish..... smile

I guess another full length rod locker would be nice, but I store all of mine on the deck, and take 'em in at the end of the day! wink

I can't think of anything other than I wish it had a Yamaha instead of a Merc. :p But the Merc is running well so I guess I can't complain.

Love my rig! ProGator 190V DC.

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

I use to think my 99' SX186 Skeeter was rough in big water, but this year I learned a ton about driving in rough water and it is just fine. I fished Texoma on a 20+ MPH North wind and never got wet like I use to. What kills me is when one of those 4 - 5 foot boat wakes sneaks up on you.

What I do not like about my boat is the small livewells, the single big door for the bilge area, and the direction the hoses and wires are routed over the fuel tank. I have looked at the 05' Skeeters and they have fixed everything in the bilge area that I disliked other than it is still a single lid -- on the size boats I am looking at.

I love my boat and it would be tough for me to get into anything else at this point. I have looked at several and just basically stayed away from Ranger. My brother has had more troubles with his Ranger and the first year he had the boat it spent more time in the shop then in his garage. Ranger finally decided to replace the boat after almost a year of problems. Hopefully he just got a lemon and everything will be fine from here out but what he had to go through to get to where he is now really turns me off of Ranger.

In many, many years of tournament fishing the ONLY boat that hasn't hurt me in rough water is the Triton. I'm talking when it gets really violent. Everybody has their opinions but that alone is huge for me. Be sure you take a ride and make sure the wind is blowing. In other areas of comparison it still comes out on top. I now have 21X w/225 Optimax.
