We are heading to port A this next week and are going to be spending some time on the beach. I was hoping to pick up a surf rod and try my luck while we are out on the beach. Any suggestions, recommendations on bait/setup type. I'm not even sure what we would be catching as it has been a while since I've been down to the coast to fish the surf.
Thanks in advance.

Live mullet fished on a 4/0 circle hook with a 1-2 oz. sinker and 25 lb. flourocarbon line. The reds should be getting pretty thick in the surf. 3rd gut is best for bulls, shallow is better for slots and specks. Use quality gear. I prefer Gamakatsu hooks and P-Line flouro leader material. Do not use tourist tackle if you intend on landing your fish.

Cool, thanks. I'm going to have to do a little shopping to get everything but I always do it right.

Port A Outfitters will set you up. Talk to Nathan. He'll probably just point you to the jetty though hahahahaha
