There is only two places to tent camp on Caddo that I know of. The State Park and there is a place on Potters Point. I have tent camped at the State Park and it is a nice facility, I don't have any experience with the one on Potters Point. I last was at the SP in April and bugs were not a problem then.

+1 on the state park.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Go to Crip's Camp and get a cabin or two. They are cheap, Crip's has direct access to the lake (unlike the SP, which is on the bayou), Crip's has a boat ramp, boat rentals, used to have a little diner (don't know the status of that now), and it's just easier all around. Heat and Air are big pluses as well as a dry place to sleep if it's raining. But that's all just my opinion on the matter. When i was younger, I didn't care so much about things as trivial as these.

If you have a boat and want a real outdoor experience then camp on an island. I have done it several times. I prefer goat island but it is a fair ride from the nearest ramp.

The camp sites at the SP are not on the water so you may not be able to leave the boat in the water at night. They do have a nice launching ramp and dock there. When I go there I usually load the boat and keep it overnight at the camp site. Some days I launch at the SP and other days I trailer to Uncertain and launch at Johnson's Ranch ( about 3 miles drive) depending on where I want to fish. Shady Glade Marina has wet slips to rent but they don't have tent camping. Potters Point tent sites may be on the water but I don't know for sure. It will be a longer drive from Potters to places to eat if that is important to you.
I think you can leave the boat in the water at Crip's also.

I know that Crip's was for sale for quite a while. I haven't been down there since April and they were open then. I would hate to see them shut down they were the last reasonably priced cabins and I went there with my dad when I was. A kid.
