Calais are nice but for casting distance the good old curado still outshines it's higher end brothers and sisters. If I was wanting something strictly for worm fishing I would be more concerned with a rod that will do what I want and stick a curado 100 or 200 on it.

I will agree with Hawke, spend the money on a good quality rod for worm fishing. You will want the sensitivity with a good rod and still use a curado.

The new Chronarchs are very smooth and cheaper than the Calais.

I had the opportunity to purchase a Calais, but when compared to the Chronarch, it wasn't worth it. The new Chronarchs, I didn't care for. Like stated above, stick with the Curado and get a nice rod. You really can't beat the Curado dollars to dollars.

I have fished the Calais but like the new chroarch better Make sure you get the big paddle version. I use this for worm and jig fishing the calais was way to heavy for my taste. For lighter stuff such as sinkos and pro-v shad i like the MG-50

The little screw that holds the handle on the Calis keeps coming loose and the handle falls off. I use mostly Curados. Great Reel for the money.

Just glad to be here!

I have two chronarchs and a curado (in addition to a whole bunch more), and frankly for the money I wish I had bought 4 curados for the price I paid for the two chronarchs. From now on it will just be curado's.

I have both curados and chronarchs. Love them both, but can't really tell the difference. Save your bucks and invest in the rod, as devilfish suggested.

You might want to try the Shimano Scorpion. It is a Jappanese import, but it is an awesome reel, especially for throwing light baits. You can imagine it as a really souped-up Curado

I think the Curado SF the best for the money. However for worm fishing the sensitivity of the Rod in very important also.

I have them all. The Curados are a good reel for the money. The Curado SF are even better. The Calais are the smoothest but the new Chronarchs are not far behind. The 50MG is very light weight. Put any of them on a Kistler helium and you will have the best there is.

ezbassin....Don't you mean the 2nd best there is???? Don't for get about the Daiwa TDZ's. hahahaha.

Seriously, Those Chronarchs 50mg's are great. Fished with ezbassin's combo before and love them. If I was a Shimano fan that would be the reel of my choice.

God Bless,
Stephen
