Would like to go camping with my wife at Purtis Creek but don't know much about the different camp sites and their proximity to the water. We were looking at the water-only or primitive sites. We would like to be as close as possible so we can easily put in our kayaks. Anyone have any advice on which sites we should look for?
Thanks!

I would pay the $18 for water and electric and get #22 or #23. The primitive is really primitive and lots of snakes.

Biggest problem there is the coons don't leave anything out ! Other than that is an awesome place to spend time.

Chris is right on with sight #22 or #23. #23 is my favorite campsite of anywhere we camp. There are about 5 sights along there that are water access friendly but are also very popular. State park sites are first come first serve.
Good luck and enjoy!

LOL I was there a few weeks ago and had let the nose of my kayak rest against the bank while casting to a good spot. Next thing I know there is a raccoon stepping up on the nose of it. I didnt want to hurt him or get bit , so I splashed some water on him. He jumped off and gave me the biggest go to hell look. So I tossed him some beef jerky as a peace offering. Purtis is a great place to camp and kayak.

Purtis is a great place to camp and kayak. They would unzip my tent and go inside and raid the coolers lol

Biggest problem there is the coons don't leave anything out ! I had the same problem at Tyler SP, had to put food and coolers in car.
