Guess I've already been disqualified as I think there is a rule about criticism of the tournament on public forums not allowed. Can't tell if you're joking or not, Louis, but this is copy-pasted from the rules section of the KBS website: Competitors are encouraged to express themselves and have the right to question the rules officials. Responsible expressions of legitimate disagreement with KBS policies are encouraged, as opposed to attacks upon the integrity of the rules or officials.I welcome your opinion and input as a lot of the rules are not set in stone. As for the part where teams are encouraged to enter, could you show me the line in the rules you're talking about? I can't find it. Could you clarify what you're talking about regarding decimal points, too?

First things first...I went back and read the KBS rules right after I made my last post on the this thread and realized what I thought was in the rules wasn't. Didn't know if I was losing my mind, if there had been corrections made since the rules were initially posted a couple weeks ago, or if I had read an explanation of the tournament rules on someone's facebook page, or if it was a different tournament I had read about. It was the part about "Lure Sharing" that got my goat. Have there been corrections to original rules release or did you or anyone you know mention that in a facebook discussion? If not then I owe you a sincere apology. I almost edited my post right away but figured it best that I leave it up in hopes you would correct me right away and I would take my licking publicly versus editing and sneaking off unscathed. The part about aligning decimals was a joke...I can't align columns either. (payout columns in rules example) The part about pedal advantage, was half joke, half serious. There were some parts that irked me a little, the part about using "oars", most of us call them paddles. Just my first impression and it made me wonder who was putting this thing together. The part about getting a break for being a "member" also didn't sit well. That is a huge advantage financially (travel to one less tournament), one extra for those that aren't, either someone must handle that expense or become a team guy for a product that might be great but most have no experience with. Competitors that already have rod sponsors might not be able to sign up for without compromising their own rod sponsorship. Didn't think the phone in pictures would be a good idea either as mentioned by others with cell connections being so bad in many areas and didn't think you would have much luck enforcing that one. A clear photo has always been part of the skill needed in a Photo, Catch, Release, tournament, and solely the responsibility of the angler. I don't believe I read anything about excluding communication by phone or text between competitors...Would hope any major tournament trail would include that, just don't believe its fair if guys are comparing notes on the water with their buddies or anyone else during tournament hours unless its an emergency. Any way, hope the discussion ends up helping versus hurting as many of us have been waiting for a successful tour that is financially worth the risk of travel for many years and have been disappointed time after time for one reason or another. Would have been even better if the trail had started in Texas.

This sounds great. I don't have the kind of schedule flexibility to be able to prepare for and then fish a series like this, so I won't be participating, but I'm definitely rooting for it to be a big success. I think the big name sponsors that everyone seems to think should be interested in kayaks might just take notice of an event like this. There will be hiccups along the way but kudos to you Robert and your compadres for taking this on... Agreed Tom. Good luck gents. Also are guides aloud up to a month before ? If the sport is trying to chase the glitter boats then this needs to stop being acceptable. IMO

You do not have to use exclusively Manley Rods to be a part of Team Manley Rods. It comes with a ton of discounts on all sorts of products, from camping gear to coolers to baits to rigging products. Just a couple purchases and you could easily get that money back. Manley Rods is putting up the $50 that angler saves on an entry fee to the payouts. We did this in order to help alleviate the obvious travel and logistic challenges that you yourself have mentioned. It is available to everyone. I think you are confusing Team Manley Rods with a Pro Staff position. They are not the same. I will try to make that more clear in the description. On the flip side, Pro Staffers will be routinely "promoted" from Team Manley Rods, so it is also a great avenue for individuals who ARE interested in being on the Manley Pro Staff. Regardless, I think your use of the term "advantage" there is misleading. While it makes it easier for an angler to qualify and participate in the Classic, these events are stand-alone tournaments and there would be no competitive advantage for a Team Manley Rods member at each event. I just wanted to clarify that. But if you want that advantage in qualifying for the Classic, you can pay the $50, enjoy a multitude of product discounts, and skip paying the $100 entry fee and travel to a 4th tournament. Again, that option is available to everyone. As for the clear photo part, my iPhone 5 takes better photos than my digital camera does. In cases where cell connections are spotty, anglers can simply take a photo of the fish with their phone, just like they would with a digital camera, without the live scoring of that fish. They can then upload the photo of the fish to the app once they get back into cell service (at the weigh-in location, for example). Additionally, the app captures the metadata from your phone to know the exact time and date the photo was taken. I don't believe I read anything about excluding communication by phone or text between competitors...Would hope any major tournament trail would include that, just don't believe its fair if guys are comparing notes on the water with their buddies or anyone else during tournament hours unless its an emergency. That is a good point Louis and something we'll definitely take into consideration. I'll let you know if we update that rule. Any way, hope the discussion ends up helping versus hurting as many of us have been waiting for a successful tour that is financially worth the risk of travel for many years and have been disappointed time after time for one reason or another. Would have been even better if the trail had started in Texas. That is our goal and I hope you know I am being sincere when I say that your feedback and concerns are very welcome and much appreciated. We have put a lot of time, thought, and resources into this, but we're only human. Hearing other perspectives is always beneficial. We want this to be something that helps put kayak fishing on the map in terms of the overall competitive fishing scene. Thanks!

IMO Don't mean to hijack this thread but guys take guides out before kayak events???? And good luck Robert! I hope it works out. I will try and make the Big Sam Slam

I might have missed it but will there be a big bass pot for these? No sir, 100% payout to places based on biggest 3 fish. But I welcome your opinion on that.

I don't know what's going to be happening with my life at that time, but my dad lives 30 minutes from the Saint Johns river where the first tournament is being held. And I know Beau Reed expressed an interest in fishing some of the series, so if things work out, I might make a road trip out to visit my dad and see how I can do on some Florida bass.

That would be awesome brotha, I hear it's an awesome lake and that time of year it will be much more productive than the lakes here. I've heard really great things. My partner Terry has fished it personally and there was a reason he picked it. I just made that drive for a saltwater kayak fishing trip and it's not too terrible. The Sam Rayburn stop is doable too. Hope to see you out there.

If you haven't been by the KBS site in the last week you should check it out. They added a part that talks about the app they will be requiring for CPR at each event. I downloaded it and it actually looks pretty cool. It will make online tournaments a lot easier IMO.

So did this tournament take place and did they really draw 200 Kayaks? Online showed 56 registered. It couldn't have been that many though because I showed as registered which I never did. Some other Dan Wallace maybe? Nope, they had my profile picture up. I'd like an explanation from them seeing as how I never registered for that tournament, never paid an annual due, or an entry fee. The least they could have done was make it look like I caught a few fish lol.
