But I thought this one caught on light tackle with 8lb test was worth it. Good fight that it gave me while fishing for channel cats on the rocks.

You Know I was just below the Dam on the San Jacinto River a couple months back and got into a School of those Ugly Suckers and was'nt sure if they were Saltwater or Freshwater Fish , (Drum, Carp) caught a couple on my trusty ol' Blue Fox #3 (Silver) My Favorite Bait of all times, I use it on Crappie ,and all species of Bass, I've caught Catfish and even Sand Trout and a Flounder on that Bait. Any way I couldn't stand the Smell of it , are they good Table Fare?

I wouldn't eat it. I know of some that eat carp that I've caught and I've heard gar is good eating, just hard to clean. I don't remember it smelling bad, but once I started cutting it up I thought it might be edible. Maybe someone else will chime in and say whether they've served it as a meal.
