Really caught a ton of bass and a few crappie this week. I actually took vacation for the start of dove season and have a ton of birds vacuum sealed in the freezer managed to catch a bunch of fish as well with the recent rains at my ponds I caught a bunch of fish shallow had several bass in the 5 to 6 pound range but nothing big. But some great wing shooting! With the cloudy water I caught most of my fish on a dark colored Clowser fished really like a cane poll LOL .caught a bunch on conventional plastics as well. my buddy and I did our part of population control lol.

No:( I just very rarely take pics of bass under seven pounds anymore. Good way to be spoiled but I have several albums full of 5.5-14 pound bass so unless it's a new lake I had to draw the line somewhere lol. The pond that I hunt at has by far the biggest fish but the recent drought has led to under fishing. It finally filled up this spring and had an incredible spawn. You can't even get to the big fish till you work thru the dinks that hit any thing that hits the water. I am going to have to do some major culling this fall! I pitched a bunch of them up on the bank this trip as I had my hands full with the birds. With all the hoppers this year caught several on a hopper popper. It was weird almost all were in less than two feet of water even mid day. But all in all an amazing week I have never taken vacation I didn't take off all together it was nice being at home every night. I still drove the same miles I guess haha Haskell Weatherford goldthwait goldthwait again lol Waco. I am really looking forward to the fall fishing at the ponds though should be off the charts and bow season starts at the end of the month:)

A six pound bass is nothing big. That's just not right Robert. The biggest I've caught on the fly rod so far is 4 lbs. and that is a dink in your world, LOL!!

I would be more than happy to help you cull those ponds, LOL.

Do you have a picture of the hopper popper?

A few bass on the fly. I have been fortunate enough to fish the hottest Lakes at the best times of year for trophy bass. Besides the fact that I manage several private lakes for trophy bass fishing as well makes a big difference in success. I've been very fortunate. I fish fork and Ray Roberts as well as when they were really hot falcon Amistad and lake ivie. Before bassmaster ruined amistad and falcon by telling the world they were the hottest bass lakes in the world it was bass fishing you had to be there to believe.

People think private lakes are like hi fence hunting but within normal amount of pressure they are very finicky especially with Florida bass. Went down today to set up my stand for bow hunting opening next weekend and got a big zero on the fish. this was really weird with shifting winds and approaching front it is normally on fire. I did get 10 birds however :-) that and the fact that I have had feed out five days for deer and it looks like a herd of buffalo has come through my stand oh the benefits of hunting five deer counties lol. Still shocked at the fact of zero fish today!

Same here Robert, the front was starting to push through, the winds were blowing but no quality fish caught in the ponds today. I suspect it will catch fire at some point over the next couple of days.

It was fun on Sunday afternoon a front skirted by where I was fishing. The sky darkened and temperatures dropped quickly. The bass went crazy for about 30 minutes. The front moved on, the sun came back out and the fish quit biting. I can't wait for the cooler fall weather!!!
