I think it is pretty messed up that someone would call BS on another person like that w/out any proof - except maybe they aren't catching fish as well. I am sorry that there are a lot of not so good reports out there but you shouldn't lump any impressive report into that category. With such criticism we are not going to get any reports any more and what good does that do? I fished w/ this guide last month for a tourny on Choke and not only is he a nice guy but a also a good fisherman! He was on a completely diff. pattern than I would of thought and it paid off. I saw him catch a 6 something and a 7.3 from one spot - so I don't think a couple over eight is that hard to believe - especially the way they were eating shad. But he never said it was easy. As for the picture of the 7+ the batteries died when we got to the water - it happens. He could of sacrificed the fishes health for a pic (which is the BBOY in our club) but he chose to let it go. But go ahead and ignore any post that you think is too good to be true - you will be missing out on a lot of good info. Sorry to blab and really I am not trying to defend anyone - I don't even know for sure if the post was truthfull, but either way some of the following posts really lacked class.

We had our club tournament on Choke this weekend. I had 5 bites Saturday and 7 bites on Sunday. Saturday I broke one off about 3 pounds, 1 short, missed one, then an 8.6 and a 5.45. They were all keepers on Sunday with the biggest being 5.95 pounds. Caught everything on a 1/2 ounce jig in the hardwoods.

Pitchinfool,

What are you calling hardwoods? To me the whole lake is full of mesquite and that is also a hardwood. Being from Houston, I do not know the Choke terminology.

What did you weigh in for your club on Sat. and also Sunday?

Brooke, I am referring to trees when I say hardwoods. To be more specfic, the ones at the mouth of Opossum would be a good example. I weighed in 2 for 14.05 on Sat. and 5 for 15.95 on Sunday.

One member in the club fished Friday and said he caught a 10, 8, and 7 on DD 22's but didn't get the bite during the tournament.

I'd say now the fish are going to still be offshore chasing baitfish. I wouldnt be so quick to call BS on the guides' report. I havent caught much of anything fishing grasslines (except my biggest, 12.7), but when I move offshore, I start to load the boat.
This is my first year down here, and I've boated 77 over 5 lbs since march.

I will say that the bite has definitely slowed. There are still some great fish to be caught though. One of my fellow guides was there today and caught about 45, up to 7.5lbs, mostly in the 2-4 pound range. Most fish came on plastics with a few on cranks.

I'll be down there Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I drive a red and black Cobra if you want to swing by and say hello. Wouldn't mind meeting some more of the TFF'ers. ;-)

Well, I can admit that I haven't been there since last Friday and the bite was a little tough as the fish were in transition, but I managed a healthy stringer despite me having to bounce around a lot to find them... On another note, my clients have caught big fish recently--check out my website and take a look at the most recent October catches...
