First, I really appreciate how willing everyone is to give us landlocked guys advice! Now the question, which I know sounds really basic, but...when surf fishing, assuming I catch some (being optimistic)how do I keep them? Ice chest, stinger? If I use a stringer do I have to worry about sharks? Thanks again.

It depends, are you going to be wading or standing on the beach? If your wading a stringer is a must unless you want to keep walking back and forth. If fishing from the beach Ice chest. I have a 25ft even if a shark were to grab it, I'm far enough away from it.

If you are wading, invest in a wade belt and a long stringer that will quick release from the belt. I have gotten drug twice by big sharks when I was wading in Florida, not a fun thing.

Yeah, NEVER tie that stringer on, it's action movie stuff watching a shark drag someone backwards.
