I am no expert but I would say fishing should be great if the weather is good. I will be there in about a week to see what I can pull out of the surf. From what little I have figured out about surf fishing is that the good spots change daily. I would say if you aren't catching keep moving until you do. Hope this helps and good luck.

ill be heading out to port aransas in the first weekend of october. maybe we can connect. ive been doin alot of research and ive found some inshore spots where we can wade. im an artificial put im not opposing to live bait (desperate times calls for desperate measures lol). i dont like fishing the jetties too because i do lose alot of tackle so ive been searchin on places where we can use top water along the flats for reds and trout! PM me if your interested in hookin up or if you want me to send u some links to places to fish at including the jetties, bays, surfs, and channel where locals fish during the redfish run.

appreciate the offer, We will be there same time, but planning on Surf fishing entire time. Invested in some Surf rods. That weekend there is a Redfish tournament(Surf Fishing)out of the Island Tackle shop. They have a Facebook Page for more info. Just a good time not really any money involved. Its a annual thing to raise money for local area charities. The Bull Red Run is suppose to be on at that time according to everthing I have read. Myself, My Son and his friend should be around Marker 25 weather permitting. I'll take anything that will bend that 12 foot Surf Rod sharks included.
