I'm not an expert on the matter of "dredging" but I do know what it is, how & why its done, & types. In regards to LW, interested in hearing opinions on the affects of the ecosystem(baitfish on up to LMB) you think it had while they were doing it...and after affects & time period. I heard from a few people recently that the LM they've caught looked unhealthy. I didn't start fishing it until about a year ago...just never heard good things about LW growing up as a kid & just assumed the bad rep was legit. I mean it is LW we're talking about..LOL..but I actually like fishing it. Has grass, hard bottom scattered around, timber, great structure from what I've seen, & boat docks. I haven't caught anything to write home about but I really have never skunked out the times I've went. Growing up fishing EML & benbrook, getting skunked isn't anything new to me. Just wondering on opinions of the lake in general & its history of having a "bad" reputation for LM..and thoughts on the future now that the dredging has been completed for quite a while.

Lake worth is really close to home almost same distance as benbrook. i fished it once i we caught some sandies and bass, but yes i has bad reputation of not being a clean lake.

on part of the lake going east is really shallow right?"

Not a fan at all of Lake Worth. Little fish in size and quantity.

I've been on the lake a couple times, due to it being close to home. Caught small fish, even since the dredging is completed. Most are around docks, going south of 820 bridge. Make sure you have your launch pass on the window/trailor, or be prepared for a ticket.

Personally I think they should drain it and make a skate park out of it.

This....

Now that I'm on the west side I kinda like it, been out there probably 8 times with more than a few good fish. This being the biggest so far.

Nice fish!! So many people have given LW a bad rep but it convenient & I like fishing it. I'd rather fish LW than EML any day of the week, year, life..lake levels down or up.

Lake Worth is pretty simple. If you want to up your game then fish Worth. That simple.

All the hatters just want...expect fish to just jump on the hook for them. It's not the lake it used to be but it's still a fine fishery. I've caught lots of 5-8lb bass out of it. Most during tournaments (only because that's usually the only time I can get out and fish).

As for the dredging. It could have a toll on them. I seem to lean more on the side of being over pressured for the last 3 years. Pretty close to 2-3 T's a week for a long time can really affect the fish in such a small lake.

I don't think the dredging operation has had a big negative effect on the bass. I think bass bothered by the operation just moved out of those aresa until the dredgers moved. I do agree that fishing this year has been the toughest I've experienced in the 10 years I've been fishing it. Some of it is pressure, but I think the low lake level is the biggest factor. With 2-3 ft. more water, Worth is a completely different lake because the north and northwest areas of the lake really come into play then. The current low level is why so many guys are fishing between 820 bridge and the dam. The lake will get its level back eventually. A couple of years after I moved here, Eagle Mtn, Worth, and Benbrook all filled up in a single weekend of very heavy rain.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I think the dredging has had a major inpact... in the last 3 years I learned how to fish this little and very shallow lake... the wed nite tournament had a 5 fish limit for a while the average to get a ck was 18+ lb now if u catch 2 keepers u win... if the dredger will suck up stumps and rocks and who knows what all it will and does fish also. ..

It's been a good lake over the years but it is fishing tough right now I wonder if it has to do with the dredging as well. The other thing that's making it tough is the low water which has a lot of the reeds high and dry. Back in 2010 we had a Media tournament out there at the end of June it was one of those 100+ degree days. I caught an 8 pounder and one other bass and thought at least I have the big bass. It turned out there were 2 other bass weighted in that were over 9 pounds!!! It's a good lake that has it's days I can't wait for it to fill back up and get good again....

Here's a link with pics of some of the Hogs that were caught that day it took over 21 pounds to win the tournament http://mediabass.com/2k10/TX/ICOW/6/

They need to dredge several of these lakes while they are down to increase their water capacity. Some of these older lakes have silted in so bad that don't hold as much volume.
