I've been cruising this forum for a few days now, so I guess I'll introduce myself... I'm Wes! How exciting....
I live in League City (South Shore area) but I've only been here a few years. Growing up, my Dad was (and is) an avid bass fisherman, so I've been fishing on freshwater lakes my whole life. This saltwater thing is kinda new to me, I'm not really used to fishing with live bait.
I was really hoping someone could point me in the right direction as far as catching reds and specs on lures. I've picked up some Texas Red Killers from Academy but I haven't caught anything with them yet. Also, I don't have a boat (yet) so I'm limited on that aspect. Any help ya'll could pass over would be GREATLY appreciated.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Wes

Welcome to the Texas Fishing Forum. I'm sure you will find some real useful information here! Most of my fishing is done in freshwater, but several time a year I head to the coast to do some shark, and red fishing. Every time I have been red fishing we usually use live bait, and have caught some Big Bull Reds! The only time I have used artificial bait, I have been with a guide, (on a boat) and he new exactly were to take us. If your fishing from the piers, or from the shore, try some live bait, like croaker, cut shad, cut mullet, or squid. I think you will be surprised how well live bait works at the coast. Good Luck!
