I have to start this Post by saying thank you to all the wonderful people on here. You made it possible for a computer geek and an old man in a tiny boat to catch fish. I have had to clear my inbox many times, due to all the PMs full of advice. .. THANK YOU. So many have contributed, and I don't want to offend anyone by not listing all your names. However there are a few people, I have to name: CHRIS at Striper Express, Lenahorse , Kerry Dugan and RHSA I have only only taken 1 paid trip with Chris, but he has pulled up on the water more than once to say HI and ask how I was doing. Usually not doing as well as him and he would give us a tip or two. A few times we got a little close drifting together and he just smiled. Lenahorse has tag teamed Texoma with me, PM'd directions and advice on techniques etc. and has been in constant contact trying to help me out, basically Larry adopted us . Kerry Dugan, helped us back when we fished out of a canoe on Benbrook for hybrids and has also kept in touch as we both moved up to Texoma. Last but not least the whole Ray Hubbard gang .. just WOW, words can't describe how inviting and helpful they are to all newcomers. Anyone posting for help on Ray Hubbard is answered almost immediately. I wish I was closer to that lake .. and that it wasn't so stumpy and windy Most regular readers, know my story, but a short re-cap: I only started fishing a few years ago, so I could take my Father-in-Law out. He is from Taiwan, fished his whole life. He lives with us half the year and is stuck in the house most days. He can't drive anymore, so he lives for my days off, to go fishing. A TFF tip lead us to behind Bardwall DAM during a release and our first Hybrids. I soon learned Father prefers to catch 1 BIG fish vs many little ones. That was the start or our addiction to striped fish. Last year my Father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson, that coupled with old joints made it hard to fish, especially from the Bank. So,we bought the little boat and started our quest to find BIG fish. His health is not great and I am pretty sure this was his last trip to America. I was on a mission last FALL to learn Texoma, so I could take my Father-in-law out to hunt for the BIG ONE when he came back. We never got our 10lb striper, but we had lots of fun trying. This last weekend, again we had tips and help from TFF, and we got decent fish. Sat afternoon they were all over West Burns Run. Sunday Morning we found ourselves among over 50 boats in 55 to 65 FOW. We actually got a few overs on topwater right in the middle of that pack. We did get another 4-5 lbr on live bait for father and called it day. 2 hard days of fishing, I am tired & sore all over but this sums it up: "Father with Fish On" -thanks again to everyone.

Did you see the tumbleweed on the water? 1st for me, looks like weed or??? in your pic with fish in the water looks like weed under it. Glad to have been a help, I wish I could take my father again very much, I think of all the trips he took me to Texoma every time I go. I miss him a lot. I fished with his old Fenwick rod this week.

P.S. To all the Guides on Texoma ... my apologies, we tried to be respectful and keep our distance, but I am sure we got in your way at times. Desperation or excitement sometimes lead to lack of depth perception.
Larry - I have on idea if that is a weed or what.

I appluad your efforts to get your father-in-law on fish at Texoma. It is such a big lake you can get overwelmed with were to go. I would say you did a great job with what you had to work with. Your father-in-law will remember this forever and I can say you are the true example of what a fisherman should be.

Goodness Rob. With all your posts. I thought you were the expert. Some of your ideas have been very good. Back in the spring I was going where you said the fish were.
That picture of your father in law with that pole bending is classic. I am always amazed at how had the stripers hit when they first take a lure and how much my poles bend.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

I've said this before, with all the effort you put into this sport, you deserve to catch the BIG ones.

Great memories!!! Good job with your father. I got my Grandpa hooked on Striper/hybrid fishing at Tawakoni last year. He went back to Vietnam at the end of last year and he has not stopped talking about fishing. Good times!!!

I am far from an expert, I just probably read every post about Texoma for the last few years on every website I could find, newspaper articles etc. I tried to make notes about techniques and what month the report was from. I would then try to mix that with current reports and any hints I could gather from the posts/facebook etc. Plus I was not shy about talking to boats on the ramps or water. I think my little boat got me some sympathy tips The only way I could contribute back, was to post what I witnessed on the water that day good or bad ... I didn't post locations that were shared privately, just techniques .. Glad some of it helped others out. -rob

My father got me hooked on this lake along time ago, I have seen the great flood before and after results here also, it don't get any better than Texoma for me. I just wished I lived there NOW and could fish it as much as I want to. Just something to remember...........
