Is Culp Island the island just north of the dam on the south west side and, what time does the Isle Du Bois park open?

Yes that's culp they have been schoolin around it and north of it early park opens at 6:00 am

I think it is ok to just open the gate and drive into the park. I was waiting for the gate to open and the guy behind me told me to just open the gate. It is not locked.

When you get to the park office they have pay envelopes outside. Fill it out put your money in and drop it in the iron ranger..or get a Texas State Park yearly pass.

This summer, I've gotten to Isle du Bois between 5:30 and 6:00 and the gate is always wide open.

When I got there before 6 the gate was closed. How do you open the gate when it is locked is there a button to mash, I did not see one.

I don't know about the gate situation. Not trying to be snide here but why would you want to get there earlier than 6am this time of year. IMO it's not safe to launch at that time unless your comfortable with launching in the dark. Granted to each is there own. I've fished Ray Bob five mornings over the last two weeks and have felt like it was safe to launch around 6:20 lately. Even at that time I am using my nav lights.

FYI the top water has been amazing lately. I've been focusing on the area east north east of wolf island near where the timber starts.
