Went out Wednesday about 8am with a friend and found some fish, including a 3.5, in a grass bed. There were grass carp everywhere so catching that big one among that bunch was a nice surprise. Caught it on a silver and black spinner with one willow leaf. Done by 10. So,things are improving.

I fished this morning from 7am till a little after noon mostly on the north end of the lake. Pulled 9 bass nothing over 2 pounds just fun to catch. 5 on a Texas rig worm.. Watermelon red with a chartreuse tail. 4 on a spinner bait sexy shad color. Fishing in 2-6 feet of water up in coves and point into the main lake.

I got out twice today (Sat), around 9am and then 6-7:40pm.

The morning trip produced two 2-lbers around a grass bed. Caught them about 30min apart on silver willow leaf spinners. Fished the docks but nada. Switched spots and fished a hump I'd noticed at the entrance of Weir Creek and caught one 2-lber at 10 feet before the jetskis showed up.

My evening trip was not productive as far as catching fish but I found some interesting spots on the graph that showed fish at 10-15 feet. Too choppy to stay on it but I'll check it out Wed.

Anyway, I'm not unhappy with the results but would like to catch more quality fish.

Fished this morning from 6 to 10 am around Weir creek. Wacky rigged Flick Shake worms were getting bites. Caught 6 with 1 going 3-3 1/2 lbs. Working it like a shakey head and dead sticking in 2-4 fow. around sparse grass/vegetation. By this time next month, the shallows should be on fire.

It's a grid right now. August always is tough. Can't hardly catch them in the same place twice.

I would hate to have been out there yesterday or today trying to fish. Drove across 1097 bridge coming to work and its redic how many boats are out there. I don't understand why someone would want to take their kids tubing with that many people out there. Most are probably just rich kids with daddy's boat who don't know what they are doing. Plus the little 9 years old riding around on Jet ski's its crazy.

I was out there yesterday. It wasn't bad for crowd until 11 then it wasn't that many. Labor day pretty much ends the summer craziness. fall is pretty quiet.

Wow, glad I found this thread! Moved to Conroe about a year and a half ago and like to call this the lake I love to hate! Just when you think you have 'em figured out, every fish in the lake decides to switch to a new pattern. Really thought I was figuring out the offshore bite last year but doesn't seem to exist this year with the rise in our water level.

Only able to fish on Sunday last week and, despite a pretty rough ride home, had a good day throwing Senko's on a shakey-head and T-rigged. Mostly dinks, but also had a nice run on some 3's and 4's. Girlfriend caught her first-ever bass and has been talking about it all week!

Headed out again this evening and plan on fishing all weekend. Hoping the crowds will be a little smaller now that the holiday is past. Good luck to all of you out there and, please, be safe!

Adam. I feel your pain. I also moved to Montgomery about 10 months ago. Good to hear your GF got a fish. My wife had never been fishing until she met me and now when we go to Toledo Bend to visit my parents she gets super pumped to go tear up the white perch. She has a blast.
