I have a 96 mariner 200efi. I basically has very little power on the take off. Once on pad it runs as it should(it feels like it anyway) Its on a 18'4" champion, so it should come out of the water with no issues. Compression is good on all cylinders (128 on 4 129 on 1 and 130 on 1) New fuel lines, new filter. I don't know if you can check the amount of spark at each plug to see if the coils are functioning properly. Whats your thoughts?

It could be just the weather. 2 stroke outboards don't like hot heavy air and a motor this size can give up quiet a bit of power in these conditions. I ran V6 Mercs on all my rigs and at this time of year in these conditions sometimes it felt like I was dragging another boat behind me and when cool weather came around it felt like I was running on racing fuel. I saw an article in a magazine a few years ago where they were testing a Johnson Faststrike 175 in different temp, elevation, and humidity conditions and this motor varied by as much as 25 horse power when run in totally opposing conditions.........

Does it feel like it bogs down? Like maybe fuel has puddled and it's struggling to burn the excess out?

Did start after the prop rework? That's a little low on the max rpms. I would like to see it at least 5800 rpms.

It will get to 5800, I just don't go there. Typically I don't go more than about 40mph. It sucks the gas down above that. After im on plane it will sit you back in your seat if I hit the throttle.

Sounds to me like the TPS is out of adjustment.
