I like the KVD spinshot hooks -- then nose hook a zoom trick worm or finesse worm (I like pumpkin or watermelon) and get some of the gremlin drop shot weights.
you will go through alot of weights, hooks and worms, but you will catch a bunch of fish too
I am new to the technique, but have had good luck on drop offs and deeper water next to cover like brush or rock walls

I use #2 or #4 Gamakatsu split shot hooks and barely nose hook the bait in open water/light cover. I use roboworm rebarb hooks in medium and heavy wire in cover. I fished a BASS open with Aaron Martens before he went back east and learned a ton from him. He said you want to basically nose hook the bait so it comes off and gets out of the way when fighting a fish.
With the split shot hook it's critical that you DON'T SET THE HOOK. A simple reel set works awesome!
