Trip on Monday produced 2 over 8 lbs, and between 40-50 up to 6, with mostly 2-4 pounders. Another great day on good ole Choke. Most bites came on hard baits. I'll be back down again a couple days next week for sure. Good luck.

I am also heading down there on Sunday and we plan to stay until Wednesday. Any tips would be appreciated. We are not tournament fishing, just going for fun. Staying at the Bass Inn. Holler if you run across us. My boat is a Skeeter ZX225 (black w/red&white).

Dont let the guide fool you, its not as easy as pulling up onto the lake and snagging two 8lbers. THere are fish to be caught, I talked to TPWD they were out there doing a survey last weekend and they mentioned that it was a bit slow, we reported to them about 10 fish all between 1.5-3lbs (all near grass on plastics). They said that was about what they had heard from all, maybe a few less. This guide report means hes doing a hell of a job!!!! I may send him an email to see if he has any openings wink.

I agree 100% with Golfer Pimp!

I fish Choke on a regular basis, and right now it's not as easy as indicated from an earlier post (unless there are pictures to prove otherwise). The only reason I keep going back there lately is there is a better chance of catching big fish at Choke than any other lake within an hour and a half from SATX.

A week ago today (Friday the 11th before a cold front) I caught a 7 pounder in the grass and missed four more that were just as big or bigger. But the following Sunday (after cold front) I had 4 bites all day.

Today was pretty much the same thing, a few bites and 2 fish about 3 pounds each between 7:00am and 11:00 am. It was windier than I'd like. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens.

Looks to be crowded saturday, as the bass inn is full!

The grass is thinning out quickly. There are sporadic patches just below the surface that can still hold fish - but it's hit and miss. If there's baitfish activity in the grass that's a good sign.

I think there are a few tournaments on Sat - nothing unusual. It's big lake...and when there's a lot of people out there the positive thing is that you can see who's catching what and where...

I am heading out early in the morning. From everything I've heard (except report from Texas Hawg guide) is that the bite is tough. Looks like I will covering a lot of water.........and hoping to get lucky.

Let us know how you do out there. I may be out sunday morning, as my father in law is coming into town from South Dakota (we trade hunting and fishing trips, as well as bar trips!!!). I will also be out tuesday, hopefully we can get on a few fish. I did talk to hawghunter and hes a very nice guy, and from talking with him, knows the lake very well!

As for the TPWD fishing reports, I dont even read them, useless, not helpful. Really the only way to learn to fish a lake is to do it yourslef, try places and things. I can tell you exactly what I do and where I do it, and it may not help you much at all. As for the guide, I give him the benefit of the doubt, I have never fished with him, but spoke with him for a good 45 minutes yesterday and he was very nice!!!!
