I'm making an impromptu trip up to Broken Bow this Thursday and Friday, and was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for fly patterns? I've fished there quite a bit, but never in the HOT months. I'm assuming I'll need some terrestrials and heavy nymphs for fishing deep. Also, if anyone is heading that way let me know! Here is a photo of one of the bigger ones we pulled out of evening hole last trip he put up quite a fight!

I sure wish I was going with you. My wife and I need a get away and I need some LMF time lol.
They had a supplemental stocking a few weeks ago from a Missouri outfit. They were the Palomino and from pics I have seen looked to be decent size.

Mayflies are hatching. Buddy of mine was there last week.

Was there yesterday myself... caught one on Spillway that hung over both sides of my "Measure-net", so a little over 24".... alas lost him as I was working to photo... TONS of little wild ones in the river. Never seen so many fish in the river that size.

Lots of golden trout in the Evening Hole... couldn't get them to turn on anything, although one took a WB early in the morning... are they more selective than others, or was it just one of those days?

Went Friday evening and caught 8 trout in the first 10 drifts including a 23.5" still swimming. They must have just stocked or the fish were extremely hungry. Also THANKS to the guy that let me carry out his mono., water bottles, and trash !

I concur, 100,000 3" trout in spillway creek and at least 30,000 folks catching and killing them.

Counted 3 game warden trucks at Sids at dark it appeared as though they needed more ticket books.

its supposed to rain tues. n wed so maybe I can get a little peace n quiet this week.

okies confirmed a stocking last monday but it would be hard to believe it was anything but 3-4 babies.

Off to zone 2 tomorrow.

denny

So here's my report:

I was there Thursday evening and all day Friday the fishing was great. First off, the park was nearly empty, I think I saw three anglers all day on Friday. Trout were biting hard on hoppers (I was using some larger foam and Dave's Hoppers) and especially size 16 stimulators. Probably pulled in 25-30 trout over a 24 hour period a bunch of the smaller wild fish and probably 10 fish over 14".

I went to spillway and had some luck, caught two small fish and one around 16". The spot that was best by far: Lost Creek. Those fish had obviously not seen a dry fly in a long time. Every time I threw my stimulator in, I had some sort of action. The fishing was a bit tougher, with lots of vegetation (which I kind of prefer), but it was shady and secluded. I caught 5 fish over 14" (one around 18-20") in the creek, as well as several smaller trout. Overall, now seems to be a great a great time for the LMF never a dull moment and maybe a bit less crowded. I did have a little luck on nymphs, but didn't throw any streamers (which I'm told would be a great option as well).

Sounds like a fun trip with the top water bite. Thanks for the report and pics.
Is that a Orvis Superfine Glass?

Sounds like a great trip. I'll be heading up in a few weeks and can't wait to throw some poppers, and streamers. Btw, that is a 5 weight Orvis superfine glass rod Steven was using. I'll be taking my glass 4 weight with me. Can't wait to catch some of those wild bows.
