Plastic welding is not as daunting as it seems. If you want to try a sealant first, don't waste your money on anything other than Marine Goop, that is the only stuff I've found that is consistently good, though it will have to be reapplied periodically. These videos are the ones I found the most helpful when I did my plastic weld repair. I used a heat gun, but I would advise investing in the plastic welder as it affords more control. Plastic welding is pretty easy. A lot of holes can be mended this way unless they are in a bad location.
