True story, while vacationing in Colorado I am going to get some good clean crisp Colorado mountain bottled water.
Then I read on the back bottled at municipal water supply Dallas Texas.

Ok but what abt when there are water restrictions and you cant water your lawn or wash your car, or whatever, do they also ration the for profit water sales? Im sure were talking hundreds of thousands of gallons being sold. How much water do you think one wallmart alone sells in a week?

Just like everyone else, no washing cars, no watering lawns. Other than that, it's business as usual, as long as they don't waste water.

Because the Edwards is already at it's low point. If they pull it below a certain level, there is salt water incursion that cannot be reversed. San Antonio pulls from the Edwards every day. I see the Edwards level every evening on the news.

The Edwards in San Antonio right now is at 621.7 feet.
The historic low level is 612.5 That was in 1957

Not much of an issue as for as a water supply concern. In most cases the water is bought and paid for by customers and generally paid for irrespective of whether or not it is used. Called a take or pay contract. And the amount of water going into bottles is very small in the grand scheme of things. One acre-ft of water is about 250,000 gallons. Or a lake that has 15,000 surface acres would have about 350,000 gallons in the surface inch. Or put another way, that would be about a million 12oz bottles in a service inch. Yup, not much of a problem, especially when it has less waste than going to the faucet and overfilling a glass.

How about this; Was talking with the lake patrol on LA and I ask him what happened to the lake level? It dropped fast in just one week. Our city is selling water to the oil companies for fracking. About 10,000 gallons a day!

I noticed the Wal-mart bottled water says source - Palestine municipal water. I go round and round with my wife about bottled water and drinking from the tap.

Fracing doesn't have a K in it.

read your water bottles wherever you go and you will soon see how much water comes out of north texas. many different companies. How is this regulated? can just anyone go pull water from any lake in texas and sell the water?

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Oh whoa is me!!! People are selling bottled water. Water will be consumed whether it's in a bottle or out of a tap. Either way it comes from our North Texas Lakes.

How many people on here complaining take longer than 5 minute showers? How about a bath? Lot of wasted water for a 15 minute soak. How many people leave the faucet running while brushing their teeth? Wait, who uses a dish washer. Sink washing dishes saves a ton of water. How about taking a leak out back at night instead of flushing the toilet. I bet there is something on this list everyone on here could change that would help save water. But it would creep into your regular lives and might cause a little discomfort. It's easier just to complain about someone else.

Bottled water is for human consumption. There are better ways to save water think on it.

BTW, there is a legitimate complaint with bottled water that no one has thought to mention. A reverse osmosis system will use almost 2 gallons of water to make 1 gallon of purified water. There is almost a gallon of water flushed back down the drain. If you want to make an impact of saving water concerning bottled water, buy spring or artesian water. Neither of these waters are run through an RO. They are treated with either ozone or chlorine to kill any bacteria. Then run through a simple carbon filter to polish the water.

And yes I am one of the bad guys. I manage a bottled water plant. Forgive the rant.

43560 feet in an acre, 1 cubic ft hold bout 7.48 gallons of water. So 1 acre (43,560 ft x 1 ft deep x 7.48 gal ) gives you 325,828 gallons
On average to bring in a gas/oil well using water takes about 1.4 million gallons,
texas
