Hey guys,
I haven't hit the beach much this year, but the 3 times I have gone, shrimp has not been as effective as years past. Has anyone noticed this?
I would usually get some fresh dead shrimp and fish bites and would get decent whiting and croaker, not so much this year. Granted I have gone with the kids, so most of it has been on a slack time during the day, but in the past I would still get some hits.
I'll try fish bites the next time, but any other recs?

Thanks

If the fishes are there. They hit live shrimp under an bobber hard. Silver spoon is great. Throw them far out. Spin in fast.

Water look wonderful for the upcoming days.

I was there for a weekend on Surfside beach and fished the bay and the surf, I must have been doing something wrong in the bay because i could literally see the reds but they wouldn't bite. In the surf I had more luck than I wanted on the whiting, but I did catch one small black drum. The only thing I could catch anything on was shrimp (dead, alive, cooked, doesn't matter), fishbites, and gulp shrimp. I tried all I could with cut mullet, live mullet and cut whiting to try to Catch ANYTHING bigger than a whiting, but all I could catch was Sea weed. Usually you can catch little sharks every cast with cut bait, but i couldn't even catch them. Fishing is not good down there right now, i think it has something to do with all the seaweed, somethings not right.

You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
