I am wondering everyone's opinion as to where to inshore fish around the Freeport area? I grew up bass fishing in Southern Illinois. I am new to Houston/Galveston bay area but not new to inshore fishing. I have made annual week long trips to Venice, LA for the past 5 years. We have pulled our own boats down to Venice every year to allow us to fish, how, when and where we want. Since selling my big bass boat I am down to my 16 Lowe 1648 with 9.9hp motor for the time being. With that being said I am needing input as to good places launch boat and still be within reasonable distance of fishing. The areas that draw my most interest right now are below:

1.Surfside Beach Jetty Putting boat in public boat ramp by Coast Guard yard. (Freeport Harbor Channel)
2.San Luis County Park area mainly Cold Pass, Christmas Bay and Bastrop Bay areas.

Those areas appear on Google Earth as some potential good fishing locations

I have always liked fishing the jetties to the Gulf. I have had some great and fun fishing down at the end of the South and Southwest passes in Venice.
My biggest concern with the smaller boat is how rough and bad are the currents particularly the Surfside Jetty.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as a buddy and myself are planning to make the trip down there this weekend. I am most certainly not opposed to any other suggestions as to locations to fish either.

We will most likely be fishing under popping corks or tight lining.
