Anyone fish lake Texoma often for these guys? I just started a few days ago and it seems like I've gone up and down the entire lake and can't find them. I've tried docks, timber. just any structure I can find. The only thing I've caught have been small sand bass and a tiny catfish. I've been trying all kinds of jig colors, sizes and presentations. Any tips on how I can improve the crappie experience? For reference I launch at the Denison Dam. Thanks for any help.

Start your search from about millcreek to the west. Look for brushpiles in places that are protected from the southwind as close to the mainlake as you can find, they are there. Location is probably more important than colors.

The poles around the marinas will hold fish. If it were me I would be fishing 3ft to 8 ft down.

Thanks for all the tips. Im heading out in the morning to see if I can't find a couple. Nothing would make me happier than pulling up a big ole slab daddy. I've been using a double jig setup one chartreuse/black and one lime green/black/pink. Hope that'll look good to em. Thanks again everyone.

Black/Pink is a good color for Texoma. Good luck!

Well I went back out and just started hoppin from dock to dock until finally had some hits. Only one keeper out of the day so I let him go to catch him next time. Maybe I should stick to bass fishing smile

Were you shooting the jig under the dock into the shade?

I plan on doing most of my fall fishing on Texoma this year, as soon as I get settled after my move to Oklahoma. I'm hoping to get out with some of you TFF guys that know the lake, if anyone wants to come along? May take a trip or two to get on the bite but, feel pretty good about my chances.

Ive only been to big tex once, and we found alot of shallow brush that held crappie around either big or little mineral area. cant recall exactly which.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

dont give up there were likely more crappie under that dock. shoot the jig from different angles on the dock.
when searching, if u catch one, note the conditions, depth, water clarity, . shoot 5 shots then move to the next one. I like wooden docks better than metal docks. look for bait buckets, look for slides, they are usually in deeper water. look for longer piers out to the docks, they may be in the deeper water. Study navionics map to see where the likely best docks are by reading the contour lines. look for docks on or near points and dropoffs, something different. look for tall docks or boat sheds that give alot of shade for alot of the day.
observe, shoot, move, . once you find the docks that hold fish, remember them because something is usually special to the crappie abt that dock and you can go back again and more will be there. dont give up, the challenge is great but the reward better.
also you may shoot 40 docks or more before you find 3 that hold fish, you cant shoot a few docks and grow old shooting those 3 hoping to score. move, move, move. when I went to cedar creek, a shot abt 30 docks before I found one boat shed on the very end that was loaded. also sometimes they sit right in front or on sides of the dock, and arent under the dock,.

Denison is my hometown!!! Make sure you stop by Dave's Ski & Tackle (Exxon gas station on Hwy 75 and 91; Exit 72) and talk to Dave or his son Jeremy. They've had that business for almost 20 years. They should have a few tips for ya!

Jesus said to them, "Children, do you have any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. (John 21:5,6)
