Howdy,

I have had my 999 a few weeks now and I still think I have some setting issues with it. Can anyone help me out explaining these images?
What are the white streaks in this image?

The next 3 shots are the same bridge culvert. The blue images are done with my unit. The amber picture is of the same culvert done with a Lowrance HDS12 (pic stolen from another forum). Why are my images so cluttered and why doesnt the tree show up as clean? I think I had the sensitivity around 12 and the contrast at 10ish.

Lowrance image

Thanks Darryl

That looks like it could be one of two things.... first guess is electronic noise... second is air bubbles flowing under the transducer.

I did run the power off the fuse block instead of running a dedicated line to the battery...lazy, I know. I will change that and test it this weekend. How do I check for air bubbles under the transducer?

when the dedicated down imagine units came out from humminbird I called and asked if the down image transducer would work on one of my 898s instead of the side image transducer, and was told no, it would not work. well I stumbled across a tech note from humminbird that said that it will work, as long as the down image is set to wide view.

Can I use the Down Imaging transducer with my Side Imaging Unit?

If you own one of our high definition side imaging products you can use a down imaging transducer with it to improve your down imaging readings.

You will great readings if DI width is set to wide (this is the default). If you change to narrow, you will get no readings.

Your 2D readings will not be as good because the 2D element in the DI transducer is smaller; therefore, weaker than the 2D element in the SI transducer

You will not get any SI views that are correct.

It is best to use this DI transducer in conjunction with a transducer switch so that you can alternate between the DI imaging transducer and the SI transducer when viewing specific SI and 2D views.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

If possible lower the transducer about a 1/4" and see if it clears up.
On some Hulls there are more bubbles than others. If it is a bubble issue you might have to move the transducer all together.

What are the best settings for vertical drop shot fishing to see the fish and your worm? I assume it is Max Mode and then increase the chart speed? This is on a 958c located on the front deck. Thx.

Water flowing off the bottom of the hull is aerated some and that aerated water reflects sonar pulses. The blurry line on the left side is that. Since the keel is lower than your transducer, that side is what produces the most aeration when moving. You cannot fix that unless you lower the transducer about another 12" and you don't want to do that.
It will not be present when sitting still.
The distinct line part of those lines are sonar echos from some hard surface to the left of the transducer--either a jackplate, some other hull attachement or a hull feature.
Humminbird Side Imaging "sees" from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides. That is more than 180 degrees of coverage since the transducer is submerged.

Well, after checking connections, fuse, and voltage from power connector, I sent my 1199 unit to HB for servicing under the warranty (they also covered the shipping costs). Bad circuit board....was a little surprised a 1 month old unit failed on me so soon but glad it got fixed and the service was top-notch. Really happy to finally be getting it back. I do like their flat fee servicing after the warranty expires too...hoping this unit will last for some time wink

I keep getting a "not connected to GPS" error on my 1197c. I have a GPS receiver at the rear of my boat. Everything appears to be hooked up and this just started happening. Any ideas? The 1197 is networked to my 958c in the bow and I can switch to that GPS but I still need to figure out what is wrong with the 1197 and its GPS receiver.

Thanks.

Onix 10 is losing the bottom when I get up on plane. I'm guessing I need to have the transducer mounted a bit lower on the hull.

Boat is a Sportsman Masters 247 center console. The transducer is mounted almost flush with the bottom of the hull.

Yep, lower it about 1/4"

That's what I thought. I'll find someone to do the work as I know my skill set doesn't support drilling holes in my boat below the water line.

You should be able to drop that transducer down a bit without having to drill new holes. I am seeing bottom at 56mph on my Sea Hunt with the 2D and DI. Main thing is since the transducer moves some because of the break away feature, you have to line it up with the hull in the up position.

Wish I had a better picture but if you look past the TM150 and HDI transducers, you can see the Onix one on the other side. That's with the boat level so you can see I have the front part about 1/4" down and the back about 1". Once under way, the back will raise about 1/4" or so.

If you need more pics let me know and I'll go to the shop tomorrow and take some close ups.

I need help on getting my settings right for the 360. The readings seem to be a lot darker then the regular side imaging. I can see the clouds of bait fish, but I'm having a hard time seeing the bigger fish. Can somebody help me?

Adjust the Sensitivity just like you would with Side Imaging.
Also try some other colors to see which one produces the best images for you.
I prefer Amber1
