August is not the best fishing month as some have observed. However, for 13 teams that made their way to Fork today, the results were good. Wind was a little tough today, and the crappie were their usual sluggish finicky eaters for August. And where were all those fishermen who were "gona be there"?

The fun started at the ramp when Chris and Chris brought their own Cats to the C.A.T. Tournament.

If you are interested in learning how to find and catch quality crappie on any body of water any time of the year, I encourage you to get involved with Crappie Anglers of Texas. There is something about fishing with the best fishermen in the State of Texas.

Yes, it was FUN. Chris and I wasn't able to find the number of quality fish we hoped for, but we did boat a lot of fish. There's always next time.

And yes, we did have the unexpected fishing companions...when I returned home the cat immediately got out of the boat and relaxed in the shade, it was an exhausting 24 hours for her and the kittens. I imagine she finds another place to hide the kittens.

Paul manages to catch fish in all sorts of ways, leaves nothing in the bag...I knew we should have hit the bridges.

Looks like fun times for all.. Congrats to all participants....now time to get ready for the state championship...should be a good one!!

At last years TSC, George told Paul (after Paul winning again...) "You know, I haven't known you very long, but I'm starting not to like you." lol
Had a hard time beating him, so he did the next best thing and joined him.
Smart move!

To follow up on what Kirk said, if you wanna learn from the best, Paul has won more than 50 tournaments (prolly more than that). Most all of the Division One and Two teams have significant experience crappie fishing. There is a CAT event (free/fun) in October where names will be drawn to fish with a D1 team on Fork. You WILL learn some techniques and tricks. And then a fish fry... where you can share/learn more info.

What a great (and windy) day to be on the water. David (shut-up-and-fish) and I had a great time, although we didn't do very good. The fish we caught were good 'uns but just not enough of them. We were sorry we couldn't stay for the weigh-in but we had other committments that afternoon that we had to fulfill. I really think that CAT should entertain the idea of more of these type 'tournaments'. We'll be back...........
