Fellas, I plan to be in Galveston in mid October. I have never been fishing in the Gulf. I plan to fish from shore or piers. I need advice on locations, baits, and what to fish for this time of year. Thanks for any info.

October is great for redfish (red drum) as they will be "running". Good time to get a bull red. Usually live shrimp under a popping cork is great. I don't fish in galveston, so maybe someone can chime in and give you some good spots there.

Good for flounder using live mullet you can buy or catch.

If you are going down in Oct..
High Island..
Rent a Kayak or sling out surf rods with fishfinder rigs, just get to High Island.
