Went fishing at community lake on Josey Lane in Carrollton about a mile north of the George Bush.
Caught some nice size bluegill, and my young daughter was having a great time.
That was until some nuckleheaded racist decided to drive by and yell out some very nasty things to us.
Being a dark skinned Hispanic, and having served in the ARMY, and 28 years as a Police Officer, my skin is pretty thick. But to show such hatred towards a child, is just a crime against Jesus. I have taught my daughter to base her feelings about people, by their actions, and not skin color.
This incident gave me another opportunity to again teach her about forgiveness, even though it came by her being terrorized.

Hate to read about incidents like this. Remember that everything happens for a reason and that according to the good lord "give thanks to all things". Sounds like you turned a bad incident into a good learning experience. Always remember "God has Control"!

isn't it a terribly huge shame that due to a difference in pigmentation of ones skin someone could have such a misguided approach to life .
i would like to take the time to apologize for the person who did this . its rather obvious that individual needs help on many levels .
hopefully your daughter is old enough to understand the world is full of individuals who are not good at being humans .

Our world seems to have taken a turn for the worst. I am sorry your little girl was mistreated, and I hope this experience will not turn her away from enjoying the outdoors with you.

For those of us that are Caucasians (or of a different race or color) we should go out of our way to be nice and friendly in these situations. We can't be there to knock the racist idiot to the ground, so the next best thing is to show that little girl, and her family that there is just as much friendship and love in this world to help offset the ugly-hearted people. There is a lot of good in this world, but the good people need to show it more than they do. Help your fellow man when you can. Go out of your way to do something good for others.

There are people out there that are not very smart and it is obvious "Jcazjr" that you ran into one. Keep doing what you are doing, enjoy and making time with your family. I am sure that person has some "MAJOR" problems in his life. Pray for em brother!

I'm sorry to you and your daughter that an insecure moron had to put a black mark on an otherwise awesome day. I'm sure you've done a good job of teaching your daughter that some people are put on this earth soley to serve as a bad example.

Sorry that you had a visit from the Ignorant and Loud as we grew up calling them, but congrats on turning a negative into a positive picture. Being a black man and raising multi racial kids in 4 states and 2 countries, I've unfortunately had my fair share of run ins with and without the family in ear shot. Most of the time the speech is slurred and/or otherwise imperceptible so when my kids asked, " what they say?" I normally say, "something stupid". On the rare occasion that they actually understand what's said, I do my best to explain that sometimes people do/say dumb, hateful things. Some more than others. I try not to sour them on humanity too much, but there are times when I can't find glowing answers to advocate on humanity's side for their innocent questions.

You know that not all people out there are that way just brush it off and catch another one.

That's a real shame. I was always taught to judge a person by their character to the color of their skin, background, religion ect.

Good for you on taking the high road, ignorant people are not worth spit.
