The bigger pond used to be full of hydrilla or some similar pond weeds back when I had luck with bass there. It's a bummer that there is no cover now. 2" swim baits, 2" crankbaits of various types are some things to try too I guess. You may hae to keep trying until you find something that they haven't seen.

Crappie jigs and Bobby Garland are good ideas too as someone mentioned. You may have to keep trying until you find something that they haven't seen.

It is still covered in some kind of weeds. I am not to familiar with vegetation so I am not sure what kind. You definitely have to go weedless when fishing the big pond. I was throwing a jig a few days ago and every cast brought vegetation.

I just came home from the small pond and a quick story.
I threw my small frog hula popper and on the first cast, something was biting at it. Well 30 minutes later still nothing. I switched to a "bleeding jig" but this thing is too heavy so after 10 minutes I finally switched to a t-rigged blue plastic worm. About 10 minutes with that there was about 10 ducks a little ways away from me that got spooked by something. I wanted to see if maybe some fish were there feeding so I walked over and threw my worm there for a bit. There were swirls in the water all around me that I thought were maybe bluegill feeding and after about 10 minutes I realized that they were actually snakes. I am not 100% sure if they were all snakes but two snakes came up at the same time. So I am guessing I was surrounded by snakes. So I got the hell out of there.
A little bit more excitement than usual but still no fish. There was a man that caught a fish but I didn't see what it was.

Nuno- I feel your pain on these two ponds. I fished both of these ponds this morning, determined to post some pictures of bass. NO LUCK. Walked the banks of both ponds. Using senko, zoom toad. Bluegill kept ripping the feet off my toads but that was it. The area of the big pond that looks like it would hold some bass is really shallow. Maybe I didn't go out early enough but I don't think I'll be headed back there anytime soon. Better places IMO.

Minnows?...... I did see a family this past weekend catch about 20 bass on minnows in a pond I fish. Always wondered why it was so hard to catch bass on lures there.

Went fishing at community lake on Josey Lane in Carrollton about a mile north of the George Bush. Caught some nice size bluegill, and my young daughter was having a great time. That was until some nuckleheaded racist decided to drive by and tell out some very nasty things to us. Being a dark skinned Hispanic, and having served in the ARMY, and 28 years as a Police Officer, my skin is pretty thick. I have taught my daughter to base her feelings about people, by their actions, and not skin color. This incident gave me another opportunity to again teach her about forgiveness, even though it came by her being terrorized

Sorry you and your daughter experienced this.

Sorry to hear that, this too from a Carrollton resident that has experienced somewhat similar outburst while fishing at the McKinnish park pond.
If it's legal ain't no way in hell it's catch and release, it's CATCH & GREASE, except ROUGH (TRASH) Fish

There are some nice sized bass in the senior center pond, the one with the fountain. There are not many or they are really finicky. I have caught a few in about a dozen trips there. Caught one on a grande bass rattle snake and the rest on senko or big bite trick stix. I tried topwater a few times and nothing. I have never even gotten a bite on that smaller pond next to it.
