I keep mine in the refer. I use 2, 1 gallon size freezer bags put the bait in one bag zip it closed place that bag in the other and zip it closed and I have not had a problem with the odor. Wife does not even know its there.
I also use #4 or smaller trebel hooks and I also have used crappie hooks some times the hook up is better with the single hook.
