 New PK Lake Record Hybrid?

Leaving South D&D yesterday I met a gentleman who had caught a very big hybrid and was taking it to get weighed. He felt he had a very good chance at breaking the lake record. I was wondering if anyone had any news of this? What did they fish end up weighing?

I spoke with Dean Heffner, he was the guide for trip in which the hybrid was caught. He told me the fish weighed in at 14 pounds 2 oz. He said the fish was about half an inch longer than the current record fish, but just didnt have enough weight. Current record is 15.12 pounds and 29.25 inches long. Caught in 1989. Maybe they will post some more pics. The one pic I took just doesnt do it justice. What an amazing catch!

Who knows.....stop at the Trading Post on your way out......They will know....they are the closet official wight station to South DD......Fishing is off the charts at PK.

I've been saying some of those "sand bass " looked pretty strange. I think TPWD throws in hybrids and just doesn't tell anyone.

They are stocked in Graham but it requires a flood PK to get any......the big hybrid very we'll could have come from there.
There is a hatchery behind the dam. There is always the possibility that the hatchery and or hatchery truck needs cleaning out at the boat ramp.

Here's a couple more pics of that Hybrid. We fished with Dean Saturday and Sunday morning and he's on the big stripers right now.

Dang! that thing looks a lot thicker than my 18 LB striper!
I fished with Dean once back in 08 before the lake came back. I bet his downrigger trolled works a lot better now days.
