Anyone have any experience with either one of these? I'm thinking for my next boat I'm going to get one of these. I like the anchor or spot lock feature and think with that I wouldn't worry about getting a shallow water anchor because the trolling motor would keep me close enough on my spot. Also what about your transducer wiring is that a big problem with either of these because of how they slide into place to use them? Thanks Mike

I have been using the terrova I-Pilot link system sense Feb. and it has been very good. Has a learning curve but anything different always does.
Things that I like:
Spot lock: It is great being able to hold in one spot and fish a area with out always having to correct or wonder where or how far you have moved off a spot. Really good on windy days.
Auto pilot: This is great when you trying to cover water and follow a bank or dam. Just point adjust your speed and go.
Follow a contour. Don't use this much but when you have to stay in a certain depth range it keeps you on track.
Things I don't like:
Noise, most days it doesn't bother me but it does make some noise when turning.
Turning speed: It doesn't react quite as fast as you might want when working around timber or in tight places.
You will also want to put one of the sliding brackets so that when your loading and unloading your boat the trolling motor doesn't hang off the front of the boat so much.
Having fished with this quite a bit this year I would say overall it has been a really good experience. Also linked with my hummingbird and using the remote or depth finder it self, having the ability to go to a saved way point is great. No more running over or not be able to return to a know spot.
I hope this helps.

I am in the same boat Jackson....getting ready to upgrade to a MK Terrova or MG Xi5 now that I finally upgraded to a HB 1199. Since I have a Humminbird, I am most likely going with the MK Terrova. I heard the Xi5's spot lock is better than the Terrova from people who I know that have used it. Also read some people claiming it is "quieter" than the Terrova...but the amount of features the Terrova offers me over the Xi5 makes me lean towards a Terrova. I'm hoping to hear some other people chime in here (I know it has probably been beat to death in previous posts). I do wonder if newer units being released have seen any upgrades/changes resulting from consumer feedback on any of the units???
