Think he is talking about noodling poles. Witch are illegal here I think. So you have to make your own. Or it's a simple Cain pole. Have heard "dabbling poles" used a couple times and this is what I know of them.

I think he is talking about Jigger Poles or Doodle Socking. BPS has Jigger Poles on their website.

I am one of those "Old Guys" that know exactly what a Dabbling Rod is. Very popular around San Angelo back in the 70's, especially in Concho Bass Club and their Lampro Kayaks. Dabbling Rods back then were made basically like a fly rod at the grip but had a very heavy duty 6-7' rod blank. Didn't cast them but just swung the bait back into the reeds or brush.
Used to be lots of people that built them back in the day in san Angelo. Might check with Field & Stream Tackle if still there, they might know where you can get one.

a dabbling rod is no longer than 8ft very stiff .. rear seat with just a crappie reel ..never cast just dabbled the lure in the brush or where ever you wanted...float fisherman used them and of course out of kayaks. my dad used nothing but dabbling poles. when you got hung up just pushed the pole to your lure and pop it out
